The Pharmacy Board of Australia and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) have announced increase in the annual registration fee for pharmacists for 2024/25.
The registration fee for pharmacists will increase by 4 per cent ($18) to $470 from 18 September.
The fee for practitioners whose principal place of practice is New South Wales is $565. For more information about the variation in the fee for practitioners whose principal place of practice is NSW, please see the Pharmacy Council of New South Wales website.
This will cover the registration period from 1 December 2024 to 30 November 2025.
‘Practitioners are not immune to the current economic challenges. The Board recognise this and have worked to keep fees as low possible while ensuring we can perform our vital role to keep the public safe,’ Pharmacy Board chair Brett Simmonds said.
Registration fees fund the work of National Boards and Ahpra to keep the public safe by:
The National Scheme is self-funded with each Board responsible for meeting the full costs of regulating their profession.
The fees for each National Board must also reflect the risk and complexity of the individual professions, as well as the resources needed to address them. The National Boards work closely with Ahpra to keep fees as low as possible while continuing to meet regulatory obligations and the expectations of the public and practitioners. There is no ongoing government funding.
